Discover the burgeoning creative scene in our city’s old urban neighbourhoods! As part of the ”SSP_People” project, Design District Hong Kong (#ddHK) is reimagining Sham Shui Po as the living room for the city through a collaborative series of design installations in four public spaces and 10 designer furniture co-creations with local shops. Visitors will be welcomed by the district’s resident shop cats, who will be the ambassadors of the urban living room, extending the community’s friendliness and hospitality.
The four featured creative works scattered across Nam Cheong Park, Maple Street Playground, Tai Nan Street, and Nam Cheong Street Sitting Out Area will highlight local culture and elements of everyday life in Sham Shui Po, aiming to transform what is unseen but deeply rooted in the community into a journey for your senses. Tapping into the district’s homely neighbourhood atmosphere, there will also be a showcase of upcycled furniture created by students, makers, and designer at the storefront of participating shops.
And while visitors are exploring the district and admiring creative works, they are invited to take part in the #ppl_hunt_dd campaign. Simply upload photos of any one of the featured works publically onto social media, tagging @designdistricthk_ddhk and @ssp_ppl, and show it to the staff at Runners Food. You will be redeemed with a set of stickers designed by talented local illustrators Don Mak, Katol, and Rex Koo.
In light of the current pandemic situation, the event organiser reserves the right to cancel, postpone or change any details such as dates and formats of all events without prior notice. Please stay tuned to Design District Hong Kong’s website and social media for the latest updates.
