Sai Ying Pun’s famed neighborhood Izakaya, Okra Hong Kong, joins forces with celebrated pastry brand, Holy Cannoli, which specialises in extravagant takes on the iconic Italian dessert. Serving up the most exclusive cannoli brunch experience with a Japanese twist, Okra’s Chef Max Levy and Sake Sommelier Izaskun Levy have curated an unmatched beverage selection to complement the unique Okra-inspired Cannoli, available for one day only, on Saturday 19 June, from 12 to 6 pm.
Holy Cannoli founder, Marco Livoti, and Okra’s tastemaker couple are excited to offer up an exceptional cannoli creation exclusively fashioned for this pop-up brunch to reinvigorate the tradition of the classic Sicilian dessert, paired with Japan’s most prestigious traditional and contemporary drinks. This avantgarde creation epitomises the modern izakaya of Okra, featuring a soybean shell enclosing creamy fermented tofu, caramel, ginger, and delicate white chocolate filling.
Celebrating the special occasion, sake connoisseur and cocktail enthusiast Izaskun Levy has hand-selected and crafted some special libations: the Wakatakeya Kyoho Umeshu Sake ($90 per glass) showcases a refreshing blend of Kyoho grapes and plums, while The Bitch Sake ($1500 per bottle) offers notes of crushed velvet and peach blossom. Another special is the light and bubbly Sherry Shochu Highball ($110 per glass) which comprises a rich and Kohaku Shinsui Shochu balanced with sparkling Yamazaki soda. The Coedo Beniaka Sweet Potato Beer ($88 per glass) is rich and smooth-bodied in style and boasts aromas of caramel and earthy hops. A la carte drinks and food are also available.
This one-off pop-up is available by reservation only and guests are kindly requested to keep their exclusive brunch to 120 minutes to enjoy the specially crafted cannoli and thoughtfully curated concoctions. Reservation time slots are available from 12 to 6 pm on 19 June, in accordance with government-imposed social distancing measures.
