Japanese department store Apita unveils a new lifestyle concept in Tai Koo Shing!

By Annette Chan 22 December 2020

Missing Japan? Us too (you know, in case our recent posts about mochi, omurice, and Japanese speciality shops had not already tipped you off). While we cannot visit the department stores of Tokyo or independent boutiques of Kyoto right now, Apita has blessed us with the surprise unveiling of Well-Being Space, a brand-new lifestyle concept space within its Tai Koo Shing department store that showcases premium lifestyle products, many of which have been sourced from Japan.

Well-Being Space has been designed to mimic Japanese landscape and architecture, resulting in a trendy mix of geometric elements and natural materials that is sure to make design lovers’ hearts go Apita-patter.

To mark the opening, Apita has collaborated with popular Hong Kong e-commerce store Iammama on a pop-up highlighting fine foods, where you can pick up premium white rice, roast flying fish soup stock, and handmade matcha and red tea pound cake.

You will also be able to browse rows upon (well-spaced-out) rows of fine teas, kitchenware, and a wide assortment of bath and body products. Five Japanese brands will be making their Hong Kong debut at the Well-Being Space, including clothing and accessories brand Iwakura, organic babycare brand Made Of, and the long-standing Hario Lampwork Factory—which does not manufacture lamps, as their name suggests, but rather delicate-yet-durable glass jewellery.

Picking up a last-minute Secret Santa gift? Avoid any confusion over who gave what by taking advantage of the Well-Being Space’s festive calligraphy service (available for orders over $300), where a calligrapher will whip up a beautifully written card for you to tuck under the tree. No slapdash stationery here! If you would prefer to make something by hand yourself, you can also join in the Christmas sock-knitting workshop (free with purchases over $800 or $100 to join) for a cute and cosy gift.
